  • HTML5 Tutorial Part 1

If you haven’t noticed by now software technology and our dependence upon it is becoming ever so important both in our professional lives and our personal lives. More and more each day technology is advancing and revolutionizing not only the way businesses and organizations are structured but the way they interact with their customers. Having a fundamental grasp on technology is becoming an ever more important necessity in today’s rapid changing technological driven world. Not only can having a basic understanding help you on a professional level but also on a personal. I’m sure many of you use a computer, phone, or tablet daily to browse the internet but have you ever really wondered how websites are structured? How are social networks like Facebook designed? While many people out there have no aspiration to become a programming wizard or a web design guru I think possessing a basic understanding of the structure of things out there in the cyber world is a wonderful asset to have.

I figured why not start with the most basic element of them and that is HTML. Now many of you may wonder “what is HTML“? HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language. Is a language, a standardized system for tagging text files to achieve font, color, graphic, and hyperlink effects on World Wide Web pages. In other words itis the main markup language for creating web pages and other information that can be displayed in a web browser. It all started a long time ago the internet along with the language was primarily invented with the intention communicating information through text.

The limited reach of html led to other great new languages and software with the intention of improving a user’s experience on the web. This in time grew into advanced sophisticated applications revolutionizing the web forever. Because of this Java and Flash came to fruition and became widely adopted but soon overtime as the web grew and businesses started appearing online Java and Flash’s lack of integration into html showed their weakness and limited ability. This lack of integration gave birth to Javascript an interpreted lightweight language embedded in browsers which added better integration and improved user interaction and functionality to the web. Although Javascript had a sluggish start and many engineers were slow to adopt it, today it has become extremely popular and Flash and Java are being used less and less. Browsers have improved their Javascript engines and today Javascript has allowed programmers to innovate and overcome limitations.

Today HTML provides the structure to a website, CSS manages the structure to make it beautiful andJavascript provides the functionality. HTML5 is the result of that trio and glues it all together and proposes the standard and purpose for every aspect of the web. Technology has advanced so much in such a short time and who knows where it will go next. Considering the rapid advancement it is becoming integral to have at least a basic understanding of the structure of the web and keep up with technology. At one time people scoffed at the idea that every home would have a computer. Businesses now have taken their productivity and marketing to a whole new level and continue to research new ways to expand their profits and reach their customers. As you can see technology is very important and hopefully I have persuaded you to follow these tutorials to get a better understanding behind it all. See you soon in part 2.
